Working Together to Support Mental Health Through Nature
We’re building meaningful partnerships with NHS services, mental health charities, GP surgeries, and social prescribing teams. Together, we can offer calm, outdoor-based support for those who need it most.
Partner With Us
Helping People Feel Better, Naturally
At Reel Wellbeing, we’re building a simple but powerful model of community-based mental health support — one rooted in nature, human connection, and calm, accessible activities. Based in Somerset, we offer outdoor wellbeing sessions designed for adults who may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, social isolation, trauma recovery, or emotional distress.
We are currently seeking partnerships with NHS mental health services, Primary Care Networks, GP surgeries, social prescribing link workers, and mental health charities who are looking for meaningful, low-barrier support options for their service users.
Our sessions are not clinical interventions, but they are deeply therapeutic. By offering time outdoors, light activity, and supportive human presence, we provide a safe environment for people to feel calmer, more connected, and more in control of their own wellbeing.
A Natural Extension of Community Mental Health Support
Reel Wellbeing was created to complement — not replace — existing health and social care services. Our sessions are informal, free at the point of access, and designed to serve as a preventative or supplementary wellbeing offer within the wider ecosystem of care.
We recognise that not everyone feels comfortable in formal settings, nor does everyone respond to traditional models of intervention. Some people need something quieter. Slower. Less structured. Something that simply gives them space — to think, to talk, or just to be.
That’s what we provide.
Beyond Fishing: Inclusive, Accessible, Person-Centred
While fishing is one of our core activities, it is not a requirement — and never the focus. Our sessions are about creating connection, not competition.
We welcome individuals to take part in ways that feel right for them. Some choose to fish. Others prefer to take part in light outdoor activities such as gardening, wildlife watching, nature-based crafts, or site care. Many come simply to sit, talk, or enjoy the natural surroundings in peace. All of these ways of engaging are equally valued.
Importantly, all equipment is provided, and no previous experience or physical ability is required. Our facilitators are trained in trauma-informed approaches and understand the value of flexibility, respect, and quiet presence.
Why Work With Us?
A Partnership Opportunity for Meaningful, Measurable Impact
We’re inviting professional partners to join us in shaping a service that meets people where they are — gently, respectfully, and without judgement. Our approach can support your work by:
- Offering preventative, early-intervention support that may reduce the need for clinical escalation
- Engaging individuals who are not accessing traditional services but would benefit from community connection
- Supporting social prescribing goals, especially for people experiencing mild-to-moderate mental health challenges
- Reducing isolation and supporting emotional regulation through regular time outdoors
- Contributing to the wider wellbeing objectives of local NHS trusts, PCNs, and VCSE alliances
Who We're Looking to Partner With
We are currently developing working relationships with:
- NHS Mental Health Teams and Recovery Workers
- GP Surgeries and Primary Care Networks
- Social Prescribing Link Workers and Coordinators
- Mental Health Charities and Voluntary Sector Services
- Wellbeing Hubs, Community Mental Health Transformation Teams, and VCSE Collaboratives
- Local Authority Public Health Teams and Health & Wellbeing Boards
We are especially keen to connect with organisations operating across Somerset, where our sessions are based.
What Partnership Can Look Like
We are open to a variety of partnership models, including:
- Referrals or signposting pathways from your service into our sessions
- Collaborative pilot projects to support specific groups (e.g. men’s mental health, postnatal recovery, carers, people in addiction recovery)
- Co-designed outreach initiatives involving staff training, shared funding bids, or joined-up communications
- Inclusion within existing community support frameworks (e.g. Your Health, Your Way, Living Well teams, CMHT wraparound services)
We're also happy to develop tailored activity strands for specific populations or needs — for example, quieter sessions for those with sensory sensitivity, women-only spaces, or gardening-focused days for those not drawn to fishing.
